This term at Central Mangrove Public our students have been stretching their bodies as well as their minds in new and exciting ways. Thanks to the effort of Mrs Quinlan, we have had access to funded gymnastics and the students have loved it.

Over the four weeks, our cola area served as the perfect space to provide students with this fantastic opportunity to develop themselves in a variety of different physical capacities including strength, balance, special awareness, coordination and their senses.
Back to stretching the minds, our students in CM2 in the last few weeks have been invited to participate in programs coordinated by both The University of Newcastle and Sydney University.
With The University of Newcastle students have engaged in a STEM competition with the goal to build a structure using only paper straws and glue that was at least 50 centimetres tall and could hold a series of different sized weights on top without crumbling.
On Monday 25th November, University of Sydney visited our CM2 classroom to discuss the various types of Engineering that can be studied. The team then worked with students on a hands-on humanitarian engineering activity whereby students used biomedical engineering to make a ‘prosthetic leg’ out of simple everyday materials.
