Our last general meeting was one of the highlights of the year. Together, we decided where to direct some of our fundraising efforts, and it was a wonderful, feel-good meeting filled with joy, gratitude, and a real sense of achievement. It was a reminder of what the CWA is all about — community, connection, and making a difference.

We are proud to be supporting a range of worthy causes, including State Education Scholarships, pancreatic cancer medical research, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and the Disaster Relief Fund. Closer to home, we have also committed support to Because We Care, We Care Connect, the Narara Valley Young Parents Program, Dolly’s Dream, Miracle Babies, Bears of Hope, and the provision of 50 dignity bags for Coast Shelter.

It is incredibly rewarding to see where the proceeds from our hard work go, from making and selling our popular jams and preserves to serving hundreds of Devonshire Teas at local markets. During the winter school holidays, you’ll find some of our wonderful members assisting with the before and after school care holiday program, where children will enjoy cooking and craft activities. We’ll also be at the July Mangrove Artisan Markets at Mangrove Mountain Hall.

Our branch was fortunate to receive a grant from the Country Fair Committee. Thanks to this support, we were able to purchase a much-needed printer, which has greatly assisted with the administration side of our branch. We also received funding for jars and lids, which has directly supported our fundraising efforts and helped us continue providing assistance where it is most needed.

On 19 July, you’ll find us at the Mangrove Mountain Community Picnic and Defib Day. A paramedic will be demonstrating how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) — an invaluable skill that could one day help save a life. Of course, Devonshire Teas will be available, along with packs of six plain scones to take home and enjoy.

We meet on the 3rd Monday of every month at Kulnura Memorial Hall at 11.30am. Bring your lunch, the kettle will be on for a cuppa. All women are welcome.
