Our Branch Beginnings and Growth: Our branch was established in 2018, with the specific aim of creating an evening branch to encourage younger women to join the Country Women’s Association. It has been a pleasure to welcome a wonderful group of ladies to our branch, and we are especially grateful for the support they provide to our older members, particularly in the areas of social media and promotion.

How We Meet and Connect: We are an evening branch that meets twice a month in person and twice a month online via ZOOM. The use of ZOOM allows us to invite other branches to join our discussions and share updates on their activities. We actively collaborate with the thirteen other branches along the coast and are always ready to step in and assist when needed.

Our Mission and Community Involvement: While many people associate the Country Women’s Association with jam and scones, our association is dedicated to much more. We advocate to government on behalf of women’s needs, supporting women, children, and families in the process.

Upcoming Events and Activities: The coming year is set to be an exciting one for our branch. We are preparing for our annual joint Poet’s Breakfast at the Church, which helps support both the church and our community initiatives. You’ll find us at six of the Mangrove Mountain Monthly Markets in February, May, June, August, October, and December in 2026.

In addition, we will be holding a jam-making session in Kariong with the Kariong Eco Gardens. We will be organising a bus trip into the mountains for the fourteen branches of the Country Women’s Association Northumberland Group in June.

Our Newsletter and Communication: We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our younger members for their efforts in establishing our newsletter.

Donation Drive – Supporting Fiji: We’re proud to support the Gwandalan Lions’ Fiji Family Project, helping the Vatutoko Primary School, Nubuyanitu village, and surrounding communities. The project focuses on: School bathroom repairs, Outdoor shelter, Flood drain works, Community hall improvements.

Our branch is a welcoming and active group of ladies, and we warmly encourage anyone with a spare Tuesday night to come along and join us.
