A supportive workshop for small holders who want to buy and sell livestock confidently — from first-time purchasers to those already moving animals on and off their property.
Join Greater Sydney Local Land Services for a confidence-building workshop designed to help small holders navigate the buying and selling of livestock — whether you’re looking at purchasing your very first cow or already moving animals on and off your property. Experts will be on board to break down the essentials into clear, practical steps and share tips that make livestock purchases and sales smoother and more successful.
In this workshop, you will learn to:
• Understand key legal requirements including Property Identification Codes (PIC), National Vendor Declarations (NVD/eNVDs), and the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS)
• Carry out simple health checks before buying or selling
• Prepare livestock correctly to ensure smooth, stress-free transactions
• Explore different buying and selling options — private sales, agents, online platforms and saleyards
• Avoid common pitfalls and build confidence as a small-scale livestock owner
You will leave this workshop feeling capable, informed and ready to approach livestock purchases and sales with clarity and confidence.
Lunch will be provided at the workshop. Registrations received after 18 June may not be able to have specific dietary requirements catered for — please contact us if this affects you.
