The Crossroads Garden native planting

Dear community members, I’m sure you have all seen the native garden that has been planted at the Crossroads, Central Mangrove. This was an initiative of the Mountain Districts Association, using a “Stronger Communities” grant from State government and managed by Central Coast Council.

After community consultation, we aimed to build a beautiful, low maintenance native garden as a welcoming gateway.

Our committee has been very disappointed with the results due to two reasons. Firstly, many of the plants have been stolen and secondly, the wet, hot weather has allowed weeds to thrive.

As you can see in the photos, the weeds were recently cut back and sprayed. However, they are growing back quickly.

I would like to sincerely thank the kind person that was seen spending hours weeding around the pretty daisies. Unfortunately we don’t know who it was, but your work is very much appreciated.

I am now asking for help in maintaining this garden. It will need a group of volunteers to meet regularly (say monthly) to keep the weeds under control. We can also discuss replacing the stolen plants.

If you are interested in being part of an ongoing maintenance team, please call me.
