The Mangrove Mountain and Districts Community Group Inc. aims to represent our local rural community at all levels of government and supports initiatives that benefit our local area, its residents and the environment. The group is the custodian of the historic Mangrove Mountain Hall, which is a vital hub for the community, hosting a wide range of activities and connecting our region.
July General Meeting
This month, twelve of us met in our historic hall, to discuss issues affecting our community.
- Our June markets that were part of the Harvest Festival, were the most successful ever, with more than 2,500 attendees! This made for very happy stall holders…and a huge effort in cleaning up. We always need helpers to help clean up at the end of each market.
- We have started planning for the Hall’s centenary celebrations which will be held in April next year. A timeline of memories across the decades is one thing we are planning and asking for all your input.
- A group of us is meeting with our West ward Councillors to help us write a strong submission to Council’s Draft Strategic Planning Statement, which is due 24th July.
- Council’s Development Officer for disaster resilience will be meeting with us to tell us how Council can help us prepare and recover.
- We are in the process of applying for various grants including from our own Country Fair to Council, State government and the private sector. These grants will be spent on making our community safer and more functional as well as having some fun.
- Remember – our Hall is for hire – see the back page of the Community News.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, 6th August at 7pm at the Mangrove Mountain Hall.
See you there!
