Claire Berecry-Brown performing at the Country Fair

Some of you might know me, as have lived all my life at Mangrove Mountain, but for those who don’t, and to anyone who might be able to help; my name is Claire Berecry-Brown, I am 18 years old and have recently graduated high school. I’ve been playing violin since I was 7 and now have the chance to go on a tour in Europe as part of the Regional Youth Orchestra of NSW.

I first started my musical journey under Michelle (Pritchard) Urquhart, having lessons every Tuesday at her house down Ironbark Road. This led to me participating in the Eisteddfod on the Mountain as well as playing on stage at the Country Fair. I have also played to help raise money for the Somersby School of Arts. It was this background of playing locally that has led to me joining the Central Coast Youth Orchestra, where I am currently associate concertmaster, and to participating in a concert with Symphony Central Coast.

Back to the Regional Youth Orchestra – with them I have done various projects in Sydney, Wollongong and Grafton, working with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian World Orchestra. The next step on my journey with them is Europe, with a planned tour of Austria and Germany in 2025, but I won’t be able to go without enough funding. With a total goal of $10,000 to be found, I am available to work any odd jobs around the local area until I start university next year.

Recently I have begun teaching violin to beginners.

With thanks for any assistance you can offer,

Claire Berecry-Brown
