Central Coast Council is developing a Youth Strategy for 2026–2030 and is inviting young people aged 12–24 who live, study or work on the Coast to share their opinions. From 1 to 31 October 2025, an online survey at yourvoiceourcoast.com will gather ideas, needs and priorities to help shape the future of youth services.
Mayor Lawrie McKinna said there are more than 50,000 young people aged 12-24 years living in the Central Coast region, representing just over 14% of our total population.
“Young people bring fresh perspectives and bold ideas that are vital to shaping the future of our region,” Mayor McKinna said.
“They are valued members of our community. How we listen to, celebrate and involve them will help influence the future of the Central Coast.”
“This strategy is about putting young voices at the forefront. We’re asking what’s great about being a young person on the Central Coast and what do they want to see changed or improved.”
Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said Council is committed to working with the community to connect young people, build their confidence and skills and creating inclusive opportunities.
“Our Youth Strategy outlines how we will work with young people, schools, youth organisations and the wider community to make the Coast an even better place to live, connect and thrive for our young people,” Ms Smith said.
“Feedback from this consultation will help us understand what matters most to young people and how best to support them — directly shaping a five-year plan that will guide our delivery of youth-led programs, services and opportunities.”
