The NSW autumn wild dog and fox control program, with coordinated aerial and ground baiting, is now underway.
Timed to coincide with the peak in wild dog activity during the breeding season, the campaign aims to limit impacts on livestock.
The program is being delivered through Local Land Services (LLS), which is supporting landholders with subsidised baits, training and coordinated control efforts.
Autumn baiting plays a critical role in broad-scale control, targeting wild dogs as they actively forage, while follow-up programs in spring help suppress populations.
Participation in the program requires landholders to be appropriately trained, with more than 6,000 already completing Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training (VPIT) since mid-2023.
