Vale Valmae Barr

It’s with great sadness that we report the recent passing of Valmae Ethel Barr (born Andrews) on 30 June 2025, aged 89. The daughter of Herb and Thelma Andrews, and granddaughter of Alfred and Amanda Andrews, Valmae had a deep connection to her family’s legacy and to Fairview Homestead. Together with her brother Warren, she spearheaded the initiative to save Fairview Homestead from demolition, to restore the Homestead and to create a community asset for all to enjoy. She co-founded the Fairview Homestead Association in 2012 and served as its Vice President until she passed. Whilst Warren was the face of the Association, Valmae was his steadfast 2ic and a tireless campaigner for Fairview. Her legacy of commitment to community, history and the preservation of heritage will be long remembered. Valmae was laid to rest at Point Clare Cemetery on 10 July. Rest in Peace, Valmae.
