STEM Adventures: Exploring, Coding, and Creating Our Future! Learning at Central Mangrove PS.
Our STEM room is buzzing with excitement and innovation! As highlighted by the NSW Department of Education, “STEM education is vital for Australia’s future, equipping students with essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.” This term, we’ve dived into exciting hands-on activities.
Farm to Fork Faire: As part of our “Farm to Fork Faire” project, students will visit local farms to learn firsthand about the journey of food from farm to table. They will then design and run a cafe, serving fresh produce grown in our own gardens to parents and community members.
Blue Bots: These programmable robots teach students coding, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills. Working in pairs, students have been coding Bluebots to navigate paths marked out with masking tape on the floor, turning learning into a fun and interactive challenge.
DASH Bots: DASH robots are friendly, programmable robots designed to teach coding through play. With simple block-based coding apps, students have been learning to make DASH move, sing, light up, and interact with its environment.
