Our Branch is one of 14 under the umbrella of Northumberland Group and every September we have a Culture Day with a theme and this year was “Reach for the Stars”. Members participate in plays, original poems written by a member and monologues.
Our marvellous Culture Officer Margie had us, once again, in a play whereby Donna was our school teacher and rest of us as 6yr old children and yes we played up and had so much fun being naughty.
Our Branch won three trophies: Kaye with her monologue on her trip to Cairns, a trophy for Best Branch Item and the big Memorial Trophy for Best Branch Interpretation of Theme. It was a day full of fun.
In the past we won many trophies one of which was for the best performance of the “Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and I leave the rest to your imagination.
Culture days is an example of the diverse interests available for members to express their creativity and are not only fun but help women step outside their comfort zone to build confidence whilst in a friendly supportive environment and learn new skills while working together.
Our Branch meet every 3rd Monday of the month at Kulnura Hall at 11.30 for a cuppa and meeting starting at 12.
Till next time, take care,
Christine Sanfilippo
Publicity Officer
