Mountain Districts Men’s Shed News

Great to see all the folk who were able to come along to our sausage sizzle, held at the back of the Mangrove Mountain Union Church on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd August. Our special thanks to John O’Toole who managed to successfully sizzle all the snags despite half a dozen men standing around the BBQ offering (sometimes conflicting) advice on the better ways to do it all. Quite a few people took the opportunity to complete their membership forms and pay our modest membership fee of $40. Before watching the glorious sunset the committee had the pleasure of sharing the news that we have recently been donated to us a Colorbond shed, which after necessary approvals and site works we plan to erect as our HQ and workshop on the grounds managed by the Mangrove Mountain Union Church Trust. The donation of the shed (approximately 6 x 10m), organised by the Australian Men’s Shed Association Zone Rep for our area Grant Gorton, has been made by the NSW Dept. for Youth Corrections. We are very grateful for this tremendous boost which will see us set up so much sooner than we could have anticipated. We also discussed plans for signage which we will be doing for the Country Fair, and look forward to being able to soon meet up with tools to put it together. Current, paid members will be able to contribute to this project. The Committee looks forward to many more members join our Mountain Districts Men’s Shed soon. Please contact me at [email protected] to request a membership form.
