MEPCC CB Radio Network Testing

As part of the ongoing maintenance of the CB Radio Emergency Communications Network, MEPCC will be conducting a system-wide test to confirm which stations in the network are able to contact each other.

To do this there will be two system-wide testing days, one on Thursday Dec 11th and a second on Tuesday Dec 16th.

Between 6pm to 8pm on these days:
– Turn your CB’s on and try to remain within earshot
– Ensure that silent mode is turned off
– Set your squelch to an appropriate level
– During this time make several calls and if you hear a call respond. Make a note of who you can speak to, their call sign and location and also the quality of the communication.
– Email a summary of your records to [email protected]

The contact information will be collated and emailed to all participants so you will be able to get a good idea of which CB stations you can reliably contact during an emergency.

This Emergency CB Radio Network encompasses an area from Spencer and Mt. White in the south through to Wollombi and Paynes Crossing in the north and out to Somersby in the east.
