A NSW Government grant will kick-off a new era for Kariong United’s junior footballers.
Club secretary Lucinda Luong thanked the NSW Government and Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch for their support of grassroots football after being awarded $15,000 in funding under the Local Sport Grant Program. Funding will provide coaching accreditation opportunities alongside a junior training initiative, investing in the development of coaches and junior players.
“For a club like ours, every dollar makes a difference, and this funding will help build a stronger football future for Kariong United FC,” Ms Luong said. “Kariong is incredibly grateful to receive this grant, which will have a significant impact on our club. As a small community-based club, this funding will allow us to invest directly in coach development programs and youth player development initiatives.”
Ms Tesch said the Government recognised the powerbase of many of the state’s sporting communities is made up of volunteers, and that their energy was often diverted from core club activities to fundraising. “This funding helps clubs, such as Kariong United FC, and their army of volunteers to provide more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation,” Ms Tesch said.
Kariong United FC has shared in $4.4 million in NSW Government funding available through the Local Sport Grant Program. The program provides up to $20,000 to individual clubs and associations, with $50,000 available in each electorate to increase participation in community sport, and 579 projects awarded funding in this year’s program.
