Mangrove Emergency Planning & Communications Committee Inc. The MEPCC was established following the 1994 bush fires and based on recommendations made to the Royal Commission that followed. Two actions carried out by the MEPCC were the installation of a radio based emergency communications network and the establishment of a telephone tree system as the most simple and efficient means of quickly reaching the residents in our area. Unfortunately, the future of the Mangrove Mountain Union Church (MMUC) remains uncertain. Support from people in our local area who want to avert the sale of the Union Church property into private ownership continues to be critical. An update on the matter follows. LOCAL UNION CHURCH EXPECTED TO BE LISTED AS A WAR MEMORIAL A representative from the Central Coast Council of RSL Sub-Branches has submitted an application to have the Mangrove Mountain Union Church listed as a war memorial. Before the Mangrove Mountain RSL/Mangrove Mountain Memorial Club were built, the Mangrove Mountain Union Church was a focal point for remembering and commemorating those locals who fought in the wars and those who lost their lives.
