Central Coast residents can safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals at two free Chemical CleanOut weekends this August. These events offer a safe and environmentally responsible way to clear out hazardous items from your home, shed, or garage. Event details: Council Charmhaven Depot on Saturday 2 August and Sunday 3 August 2025, 9am-3.30pm, at 137 Chelmsford Rd, Charmhaven NSW 2263 (enter via Depot Road). Former Kincumber Waste Management Facility on Saturday 9 August and Sunday 10 August 2025, 9am-3.30pm, at Cullens Road, Kincumber NSW 2252. Note the facility remains closed to the public except for this event. Council Mayor Lawrie McKinna said proper disposal of household chemicals is essential for community safety and environmental protection. Council Acting Director Infrastructure Services Andrew Pearce said a wide range of items will be accepted. Residents can bring paints, pesticides, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, fluorescent globes and tubes, even unknown or unlabelled chemicals. Please note only household chemicals are accepted. A limit of 20 litre or 20 kilogram applies per item, except for paint, which is accepted up to 100 litres in containers of 20 litres or less. The Chemical CleanOut program is a NSW Government Waste Less, Recycle More initiative brought to you by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Paintback and Central Coast Council.
