Dumped Vehicles

For quite some years I have observed a pattern, cars left on roadside in the vicinity of the M1 let off at Somersby, when a red and white ribbon is attached they are soon broken into, stripped, often burnt.

Was it some sort of insurance fraud, the ribbon the ok sign? It certainly seemed to trigger the crime.

Sadly I have learnt that the ribbon is placed by emergency services, apparently to let the authorities know that the driver is too ill to remove their car. Otherwise they wouldn’t likely be involved?

So the low life is taking advantage (that the owner can’t turn up) to strip, destroy and steal.

The best solution, if anyone sees anyone near a vehicle left on the roadside:
1. Take number of their vehicle
2. Take note of any person present and give it to police if subsequently damaged.

If they are innocent I’m sure they wouldn’t mind but if not, a pattern will soon be apparent.
