Lifelong community advocate Jayne Mote has been named the 2026 Gosford Local Woman of the Year.

The Local Woman of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate progressive thinkers, everyday heroes, social advocates and community role models.

Ms Mote, of Umina Beach, is cofounder of Rotary Brisbane Water among a long list of contributions to the local community spanning five decades as an exemplary volunteer and leader.

Her nomination states her service represented “an extraordinary legacy of compassion, leadership, and community building”.

Her work spans local food relief, international cultural exchange, youth development, environmental protection, cultural enrichment, and health advocacy.

An Honour Roll of local women nominated by their MPs will be acknowledged during NSW Women’s Week (2-8 March); an annual week-long celebration of women in NSW through a program of activities that empower women and promote gender equality.
