Creative Recovery Free Information Sessions
Creative Recovery is a specific approach used to support individuals and communities after a disaster by creating physical and mental spaces where people feel safe and connected to one another. Learn more about the Creative Recovery approach at our free
community information sessions.
Why Creative Recovery?
Following disaster, creative community projects can be a powerful platform for people to express grief, frustration and loss, as well as compassion and connection. Culture and the arts play a deep, real role in supporting communities and individuals to tackle disaster recovery.
Some examples of Creative Recovery in action are the Yarn Hub at The Hub Café in Mangrove Mountain, and the creation of the ‘Why Spencer’ artwork by the river at Spencer.
Who can participate?
You don’t need to be ‘creative’—we’re just looking for anyone who is open to learning about the Creative Recovery approach, and who is interested in supporting their community and looking to make connections.
