Mangrove Emergency Planning & Communications Committee Inc.

The MEPCC was established following the 1994 bush fires and based on recommendations made to the Royal Commission that followed.
Two actions carried out by the MEPCC were the installation of a radio based emergency communications network and the establishment of a telephone tree system as the most simple and efficient means of quickly reaching the residents in our area.
However over time the radio equipment has become outdated and fallen into disrepair ant the telephone tree suffer from a major weakness in that during disasters the landline and mobile phone systems regularly fail.
It is proposed to apply for funding under the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants scheme to establish a new UHF CB network to cover an area that includes Gunderman, Spencer, Mangrove Mountain, Kulnura, Somersby, Mt White, Ravensdale, Yarramalong, Wyong Creek, Dooralong, Jilliby and other areas nearby.
If you would like to be involved or want to find out more please send an email to [email protected] with your enquiry and contact details.
In the mean time the MEPCC invites interest from residents who would like to nominate for the following positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Officer and Committee Member.
